Does the Soul Cycle Head Unit come with speakers?
No. The Soul Cycle Head Unit is a handlebar mounted amplifier with an integrated rechargeable battery and volume control. It comes with everything you need to go cruising except speakers.
How long will the battery last on the Soul Cycle Head Unit?
The internal rechargeable battery should last 5-8 hours at full volume. It depends on the type of music you play and the speakers you use. Larger, lower-impedance speakers will drain the battery faster.
When your battery is depleted, you'll hear the internal amplifier struggling to keep up with your music. This sounds like scratchy digital noise added to your music. When you hear this, it's time to turn the music off and recharge.
As you'll see laser etched next to the Head Unit's charger port, it's important to turn your Head Unit off while charging the battery.
What's the difference between the DIT Head Unit and the "In The Pocket" Head Unit
The Soul Cycle "In The Pocket" Head Unit comes with an integrated battery and amplifier. All you have to do is add a pair of speakers and go cruising.
The Soul Cycle DIT Head Unit is more like a project box. It will help you finish the wiring on your music system or custom project. But it is not a complete system. It's more of a shell.
What type of speakers work best with the Soul Cycle Head Unit?
It's important to pick speakers with the good bass response and high efficiency. The Soul Cycle head unit is not designed to be used with a separate subwoofer. It's designed for one or two pairs of standard left/right pair of speakers. For technical folks, the lowest impedance it can handle safely is 4 Ohms.
How can I transmit music from one Soul Cycle to another for surround sound?
To handle wireless bike to bike surround sound, I purchased a Shure Wireless monitor system, designed for on-stage use by bands. The model I bought was the PSM 200. It came with one receiver. The main disadvantage of this system is the cost: I spent about $500 on the system. I also purchased an additional receiver for about $250. There are less expensive wireless monitor systems available. I wanted to go with the Shure.
