What powers the Down Low Glow?
The Down Low Glow comes with a lightweight NiMh rechargeable battery. It weighs 1 pound and is the heaviest component of the DLG system. It is weatherproof and has a high quality coaxial power connector that mates with our DLG chargers, and with the DLG light tubes. It also has a foam strip underneath the outer rubber layer, to prevent road vibrations from dislodging it.
TwoFish BikeBlock provides most secure battery mount
Useful for nighttime mountain biking, or for very chattery roads.
The TwoFish bike block is a double cam strap that uses Velcro as the closures. It's available in our online store in the Down Low Glow accessories section. Cam straps allow you to use a pulley to tighten a strap.
Recycling rechargeable batteries.
Rechargeable batteries are good for the environment because they can be used hundreds and hundreds of times. In theory this prevents hundreds and hundreds of alkaline batteries from ending up in landfills. But all good things must come to an end. You'll know your rechargeable battery is on its way out, when it provides less and less run-time on your device. When it drops below 1/2 of the original run-time, it's safe to say it's dead.
