After I read Fossilfool's article in MAKE magazine, I got inspired. I had this old 100-watt-per-channel car deck laying around so I figured I'd wire it up. I used 2, 0.7 Amp-hour, sealed lead acid batteries and hooked them up to the deck. 2, 130-watt, outdoor speakers I picked up at radioshack. The batteries didn't last long, so I picked up a big one for a total of around 8 amp-hours. I stuffed it all into a shoddily constructed plywood enclosure and zip-tied the speaker wall mounts to the back frame, and elastic-banded the enclosure down.
Since the pictures, I've added an auxiliary input for ipods and whatnot. A new, prettier, enclosure will be coming soon and maybe a sub.
Man this thing is fun.

Where you been cruising?
Wow, the white speakers look a little like elephant ears. Yes, it looks like a lot of fun. Where have you been cruising? I notice the head unit faces backwards. Are there any benefits to this design? Why didn't you place it in a more reachable spot?

The head unit really only serves as an amp. I have an ipod mount on the handlebars where I do the volume, tracks and whatnot. It is at a comfortable viewing height when sitting. In that case I usually control it with an IR remote that came with the deck. It's really the way that it is because the whole set-up is intended to be interim until I can get my hands on an xtracycle and make something real nice.
