What size battery?

I'm currently building up a system to mount on my xtracycle, just need some help picking out the right battery(s). I have a powered 10" subwoofer tube (100w 15a) and a seperate 100w x 4 amp for the 4 speakers. So I'm trying to figure out amp-hours, battery type and size (lead acid, NiCd, etc). If you have any guidance on this please let me know. Hope the show went well for you guys! Thanks again, Jeff in L.A.

My recommendation

Hi Jeff,

Based on your specs, I'd recommend a Sealed Lead Acid battery in the 18-25 amp-hour range. This battery will be 15-23 pounds. (With SLA batteries, 1 Amp-hour is approximately 1 pound.) Obviously, bigger is heavier, and SLA batteries are the heaviest of all rechargeables. So you can decide how important weight is to you. But if you're trying to stay economical, SLA is the way to go.

NiMH batteries of the same capacity will cost 2-4 times as much, and weigh about 50% less.

Hope this helps
